1,000W Results
In comparison the 1,000W was significantly noisier at full load than the 600W, but the extra size and power
does require extra cooling. The noise was more airflow than fan bearing so it was certainly tolerable even if it was clearly audible. Again, the rush of air out the back was warm, as expected and the base was hotter than the sides.
Overall the results are excellent with a continually very high PFC and 80 plus efficiency, except for the 3.3V and 5V just failing at full load. The results aren't quite as good as the 600W model which is a shame as it seems like Ultra has stretched the unit's components just too far, even though it has had both its 3.3V and 5V values
reduced from 600W to 1,000W.
For the vast majority who
think they need a 1,000W unit will mostly use the PSU between a normal 50-75 percent usage, but likely closer to the lower value. They will get a unit that works very efficiently and happily within the boundaries of the ATX specification. However, if it's rated to 1kW it should
do the said value.
